Congrats on your sale Chris! What a wonderful vintage piece. So wonderful to see the Towers.I'll never forget the first time I went to NYC a few months after 9/11, seeing that empty skyline driving in made us all cry. This is a great tribute! L/F

Chris Lord replied:

Being an oldster is useful sometimes as it gives me a huge backlog of images to go back to. This one has been a permanent favorite of mine and has seen versions through all kinds of tech changes over the years. Happy you liked this version. Thank you. I miss these building too. I especially enjoyed going up to the open roof and spending time looking out over the city. It was so quiet and peaceful up there. I took their destruction as a personal affront. Cheers

My pleasure Chris..........

Silute, Si - Lithuania

I like this picture two. I live abroad but these buildings will always be the part of New york to me. I've seen the city live only without twins but in my mind NY is always with them.

Chris Lord replied:

Although the "twins" were there for many less years than, say, the Empire State Building or the Chrysler Building their iconic image will have them be that way in many peoples minds for many years to come I think. Thanks for your thoughtful comment Ausra.

Brooklyn, NY - United States

wow, what's wonderful about this is you can see the North Tower all of the way to the base, which is pretty unusual. Most images were taken after the World Financial Center was started, (and that might be it in front of the south tower), so you can't see the base. This captures an aspect of the WTC that I feel is part of their beauty, their mathematic simplicity and elegance, their use of rectangles, thirds, proportion. I know that many people lost loved ones, and I sympathize deeply with that, but I also miss the buildings themselves, the rectangles within rectangles, their simple yet perfect lines,

Chris Lord replied:

I used to spend time here and there on the open deck on top of the south tower. It was peaceful and quiet up so high above the crazy city. I loved it. I would sometimes take photographs from up there to. I took their destruction personally, and I really miss them still. That's actually the unfinished Hotel at the base. Thanks so much for that detailed comment, cheers.
