Description
Pink and white Dogwoods are popular flowering trees. The scientific name for this variety of Dogwood is Cornus florida, and is native to North America. Dogwood blooms appear in April with pink and white blooms that last for two to four weeks. The dogwood is the official State Flower of Virginia.
Every year I try to find dogwood blooms before the center buds open. Once those buds open, that is the dogwood flower. The warm weather has produced dogwood blooms in early April. While visiting Historic Tuckahoe in Charles City, Virginia, the pink dogwood trees were blooming, and on this evening I found one where the buds had opened to their small dogwood flowers.
