Depot Cafe And Club Car Lounge
Artist
Anne Norskog
Medium
Painting - Hand Drawn Digital Painting
Description
Many old depot buildings have been decommissioned by the railroad companies. This particular old depot has been turned into an upscale cafe and lounge. Sensibly, the wonderful brick sidewalk was left intact. The tracks have been removed and the old railbed turned into a hiking trail.
I am a digital artist who paints in the traditional sense: just with non-traditional tools.
Every piece of art in my gallery is original; not scanned; not a photograph. Using only the computer mouse, I draw every line, add every bit of shading, highlights, blending, and refining to finish a piece. All of the art is started on a blank white page in Microsoft Paintbrush. The finishing process is done using Photoshop Elements. The viewer is respectfully reminded all of my works are copyright protected and appears on each piece together with my signature. Every piece is printed using only the finest of professional materials available, by a professional printing house. Rigorous quality control is employed to guarantee a satisfactory work of fine art. Open copies are now available on FAA with POD.

Thanks for the great pick-me-up Jack! Everyone needs to take care of our old historic buildings. Many of the lighthouses are on the registry. A good percentage of them have conservancy groups who dedicate huge amounts of time into the restoration and ongoing maintenance of lighthouses. The old depots are usually beautifully designed and many of them were filled with art murals. It is a shame to just tear them down. Again thanks!

Anne, nice work....We also have a depot and "Club Car Cafe" in West Concord Ma. This building has just been put on the National Historic Register, so some one's looking after these beautiful structures. I am also an admirer of Lighthouses..you do some great work

Thank you Diane! I enjoyed doing this work. It reminded me of all the good times of riding the train and getting to visit with beloved relatives, when I was a child.

Anne, I love your response to Patrick in your description of the feeling of the train having just stopped,,,, I absolutely get that feeling from this work and I love it!

Hi Patrick. Thanks! I wanted to convey the feeling one gets as they are rolling into a train station, as seen from the windows of a train. Everything passes by then suddenly stops.

So exquisitely rendered, that at first I thought it was a bas relief. And that, among other things, is what I love about 'Depot,' Anne; you've used a flattening-out effect that not only compels me to keep looking at it, but that somehow gives it an aura of nostalgia. Exceptionally well done.
