Deep Ellum started as Dallas’ first commercial district for African American and European immigrants and is one of the most historically significant neighborhoods in the city. Deep Ellum still has many commercial storefronts from the late 19th century and early 20th century.
Deep Ellum had some hard times and by the 1970s had almost died, but the people of Dallas revitalized the neighborhood and today it full of live music and many art venues.
