Title
Death Of Achilles
Artist
Troy Caperton after John Flaxman
Medium
Painting - Oil On Canvas
Description
This is a reproduction of an elaboration of John Flaxman’s line drawing, the death of Achilles of 1795. As told by Aeschylus in his Achilleis, Achilles was killed by an arrow shot by Paris Alexandros, prince of Troy, husband of Helen and younger brother of Hector. This work is an attempt to portray this moment among the many of the tales of the Greek concerning the War against Troy. The original painting measures 24 by 30 inches and is in the possession of the artist.
