Description
Also known as the “Club Tail Iguana” the Ctensaura quinquecarinata is a lizard that is native to Costa Rica. If you are hanging out in Costa Rica, chances are you will see them running around. The tails of these iguanas are heavily armored with five rings of spines forming ridges. Many of the males change colors ranging from black to blue and yellow.
This species of iguana is endangered due to habitat loss, the pet trade and is even hunted by humans for food.
This little fellow saw me taking pictures and came out to watch me, so I took his picture too.
