Crown O Plenty op10 photography by Mark Myhaver is rendered as an oil painting. It presents the top or crown of a Candy Barrel Cactus bearing fruit and flowers. The somewhat sour fruit is a favorite of small desert animals. Humans are fond of making cactus candy from it. We are fortunate in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona to see this colorful bouquet anytime during the months of July through September. This particular one was towards the end of August. They are also called Fishhook Cactus and Southwestern Barrel Cactus.
