Description
Crater Lake from the Lodge
This was taken in Early June. Crater Lake is a caldera formed by a destroyed volcano, Mount Mazama. The rim ranges between 7000-8000 feet, and the lake reaches 1949 feet, so it is the deepest lake in the US; the 2nd deepest on the North America continent and the 9th deepest in the world. There are no streams feeding out of it, and the lake is entirely filled by precipitation. any water lost is from evaporation of subsurface seepage. Information from Wikipedia.
