Description
Coronado Beach by Connie Fox
Fine Art Painterly Photograph
This simple rendering in a painterly watercolor style, is based on an original photograph of Coronado Beach, Coronado, California, by Connie Fox. Shot after a rainstorm, it features the outdoor fire pits but no people on this famous beach, considered one of the best in the world and located not far from San Diego. Tiny white sailboats can be seen dotting the horizon, but the artist and photographer resisted inserting a boat where there was none in real life. The result: a beautiful minimalist image of earth, sky, and sea. Lovely muted shades of blue, cream, and two distinct grays.
Mica-flecked boulders of the fire pits create rugged seating and foreground interest, prompting one to imagine the beach-goers who have been warmed by a fire here on a cool California evening. A beautiful and natural image that will never go out of style. Timeless.
Named one of the Top Ten Beaches in the United States, Coronado Beach is a 1.5 mile strip of beach along the California Coast in the shadow of the vintage red-roofed Hotel del Coronado, location for the movie “Some Like It Hot” starring Marilyn Monroe. You will find two pictures of The Del in my California Gallery.

Luther Fine Art, I am grateful for the nice feature on the homepage of the ABC Group - A is For Abandoned. It's great to stumble upon a classic Top Ten beach and--better yet for a photographer--to find it has been abandoned! In this case, the rain had driven away all the people. I seized the moment, then had some fun with the image. So happy you chose it. Thank you.

Awesome seascape photo !
Connie Fox replied:
Thank you, John. It's so kind of you to comment. It had just stopped raining, so I was blessed to photograph a popular beach with no people!
