Double-crested cormorant (Phalacrocorax auritus) in a characteristic wing-drying pose with wings held wide. The bird is standing on a small mound of earth in the water where Ravenna Creek widens as it flows into Union Bay. The image was photographed in spring near Husky Ballpark, University of Washington, Seattle. The land in the background is the edge of Union Bay Natural Area.
