Title
Chestnut-backed Chickadee On Bottle Brush Blossom

Description
A chestnut-backed chickadee (Poecile rufescens) strikes a pose for a very brief moment while foraging with its peers in a bottle brush tree in the front yard.
If you look closely, you can see it grasping the long vibrant stamens of the blossom with its feet. I thought it was so precious, the way this elegant bird was holding onto the blossom for dear life, its beak slightly open as if to say, "Hurry up and take my picture!"
During the 2020 Covid-19 stay-at-home order in California, God provided these amazing nature photo ops in my own yard that I would have missed otherwise. As the founding pastor of my church said, nothing is wasted in God’s economy. The Creator will turn life's challenges into something good ~ if we would look patiently for the opportunity.
The chestnut-backed chickadee is a small passerine bird which inhabits the Pacific Northwest of the United States and Western Canada. It is generally a year-round resident which frequents lower elevation forested areas during the cooler months and transitions to higher elevations in warmer weather.
The bottlebrush tree is a member of the genus Callistemon and belongs to the Myrtaceae family of plants. These showy cultivars are native to western and south-eastern Australia. They have been cultivated and grown in temperate-region gardens worldwide.
As this photo was taken in very low natural light without any flash, I made some adjustments to bring out the details of the bird and bottlebrush blossom. The background bokeh consists of natural lighting and colors of the leaves and blossoms of the tree.
I am simply in awe of God’s magnificent creation. Truly, it is an honor for me to showcase the splendid majesty of the Creator’s ingenuity and unparalleled wildlife designs He created in nature!

Artwork notes:
Embedded in the top right-hand corner is the Hebrew acronym for "B'ezras Hashem" [ב ס " ד] meaning "with God's help". It is a reminder to me as an artist of my dependence on the Almighty, the Originator of all creativity. This is a similar acknowledgement used by great artists like Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel who signed their work with the Latin phrase, "Soli Deo gloria" which means, "Glory to God alone".
