Lovely cherry trees blooming are a sign of spring. Look again! These pretty pink blossoms are Chinese New Year decor with oriental lanterns accenting the beauty of this huge artificial tree in a lobby in Singapore. Chinese wishing trees, money trees, or hong bao trees are part of Chinese New Year festivities. Billions of people around the world gather to toss their red ribbons into a wishing tree with hope that it will stick and their wish will come true for good fortune in the coming year. To Chinese, red symbolizes good luck and joy. It is believed that tying a red ribbon to a wishing tree makes the wish come true. The higher the ribbon, the more likely the wish comes true. After abstracting some background distractions, this original travel photo was lightly filtered.
Pink is a color often associated with charm, politeness, sensitivity, tenderness, sweetness, childhood, femininity and romance.
