Description
The Canada Goose is one of the most popular and widely recognized species of birds in North America. It has a black head and neck with white on its cheeks and brown feathers. It is commonly found in parks and urban areas as well as farms and fields, often near water. This Canada Goose was photographed in Chateauguay, Quebec, Canada, in the late winter/early spring, while there was still snow on the ground. Canada geese are known for their honking and flying in V formation as they migrate. Their downy feathers are used in making warm winter clothing. Canada geese are the most commonly hunted waterfowl, but their numbers are not declining despite this practice.
