Description
Image includes "Sacred Geometry" and silhouette of a person in a traditional lotus position for meditation. Bindu (red dot) included in center to draw focus inward. Additional symbolism also included as explained below.
This work contains a Shri Yantra (also "sri" or "shree") visible through a glass like dome or lens. The Sri Yantra is a "sacred geometry" that originated in India and is composed of 9 interlocked triangles. To be drawn correctly, it must include concurrency, centricity, and equilaterally and is widely considered to be very difficult to draw without errors at the intersections.
There a three main variations of the Shri Yantra form: Plane, pyramidal, and spherical with the spherical form (also called "Kurma") being considered the most difficult to draw correctly since it contains curved lines. This piece combines both Plane and Spherical forms.
Around the Sri Yantra in this image are 2 rows of lotus flower petals representing chakras. Each petal contains an illuminated orb in the colors of 6 of the 7 chakra colors found in many Western adaptations of Hindu Yogic chakras (all but "Ajna" (the 3rd eye chakra) which appears on the 8 inner lotus petals). Additional gold colored lotus flowers also appear inside the four corners of the surrounding "earth square".
The "earth square" represents a temple containing 4 doors/portals facing outward to the 4 cardinal directions (North, East, West, & South).
Mandalas have been known in India and Tibet since 3,000 B.C. dating back thousands of years, Mandalas (Sanskrit for "circles) have been used for inner healing, meditation, enhancing intuitive & sixth sense powers and to connect with the eternal universe / multiverse (hence the title). The Shri Yantra is considered one of the most powerful mandalas and is associated with abundance, affluence, and prosperity.
