Description
I crossed these tracks when passing through Tipton, CA. Located in the heart of the San Joaquin Valley, in Tulare County, Tipton has a total area of one square mile. It is bordered by the Sierra Nevada Mountains to the East, and is a 2.5 hour drive to the West Coast. Tipton was originally dubbed 'Tips End' by the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1872, as it was located at the end of the railroad line. The town originated during the explosive growth of the western frontier. Tales of its wild and woolly past abound.
