Button Accordion Three
Artist
Ken Powers
Medium
Painting - Watercolor On Paper
Description
Another button accordion from the collection of Dan Possumato, this piece marks the third in the series of melodeons I have been working on. This one deviates slightly in that it incorporates some slightly more impressionistic elements than the two previous pieces. This particular brand is quite unique in that it can sometimes take up to two years from placing an order to receive the instrument. My version is painted with Daniel Smith Primatek and Rublev 18th century reproduction watercolor paints on Arches 140# cold-pressed paper. This particular combination of paints and paper results in very interesting textural elements that are very unique. The original measures 14”x10.25” in size and reproductions of the piece are available as well.

Thank you so much. These were one of my favorite subjects to paint. I am sure you will enjoy doing yours as well.

Ken, this is such a treat for my eyes. Your use of complementary colors is perfect. This piece is so appealing to me because when I was a girl I learned to play an accordion (which I still have but have never considered as a subject - seeing your painting has changed that!) I think it will be quite a challenge.

Ken, this is my favorite of your three accordions - it is especially charming. However do you paint all those tiny folds?! Very nice work!
