As we made an early morning cruise along the coast of Galapagos Island of Santa Cruz island in a panga (zodiac-type boat), we had the opportunity to see blue-footed boobies posing for us on the lava rocks. This one gave us the perfect profile shot in the warm morning light! It isn’t hard to identify a blue-footed booby. They are aptly named for their distinctive blue feet which the males elaborately display during mating rituals. Blue boobies are marine birds native to subtropical and tropical regions of the eastern Pacific Ocean including the Galapagos Islands.
