Description

While in California I visited Ventura Beach to take in the ocean air and discover birds, rocks and anything else to keep in remembrance. It was a foggy day and the seagulls were standing and flying around the foggy sky. This is a Western Gull flying very close and I loved the spotty tones of its feathers so I processed the image in black and white to emphasize the texture and tones of the bird.
Western Gulls (Larus occidentalis) are common along the shorelines of California. Their colors range with age of the bird. They will scavenge among other sea bird colonies and are known to steal eggs. They can be seen all along the coasts from Washington to Mexico.
