Description
Framed in the glare of yellow street lights, the Quello arch reflects an eerie glow in the sub-zero evening air...shot during an unusual deep cold snap (-20 degree F), the venerable sandstone and brick facade give a sense of strength and opulence, characters that Bartholomew Quello, an Italian teamster turned real estate developer, used to attract the affluent commercial tenants in the turn of the century Mining Boom town of Calumet, Michigan. Her floors were accustomed to the heels of millionaires, banks of windows displayed the riches of the world, and financial deals made in her backrooms rippled across the country....Now pigeons crawl over the rotten rooms, broken windows allow the elements access, and decay and neglect reign supreme. A battered car body rests in the main showroom, its rusted steel covered in filth, the pressed tin ceiling hanging in twisted sheets....The pride of Bart Quello can still be glimpsed...the battered soul of the building lives on...fading with time...praying for a savior to rescue her...
