Title
Ayres's Hawk Eagle
Artist
Anthony Mwangi
Medium
Painting - Acrylic
Description
Is it at your command that the eagle mounts up and makes his nest on high? On the cliff he dwells and lodges, Upon the rocky crag, an inaccessible place. From there he spies out food; His eyes see it from afar. Yes, the Eagle is a marvel of creation.
Ayres's hawk-eagle is a bird hunter, almost to the exclusion of any other type of prey, especially doves and pigeons,it soars high above the ground to search for prey.
Ayres's Hawk Eagle occurs in isolated patches of sub-Saharan Africa. In southern Africa, it is rare in Zimbabwe, central Mozambique, the Caprivi Strip (Namibia), northern and south-eastern Botswana and north-eastern South Africa.
The population trend appears to be stable, and hence the species does not approach the thresholds for Vulnerable or endangered.
