Description
This is a pretty purple toned Bachelors Button flower. They are also called Cornflowers. I planted these flowers in my garden last year and they came up again this year by themselves. I got my macro lens out and took some close ups, focusing on the center petals. I processed this in a slightly impressionistic and painterly style.
Bachelors Buttons (Centaurea cyanus) are also called cornflowers. They are in the asteraceae family of flowers. These flowers are drought tolerant and usually bloom in the summer months. They originated in Europe in the corn fields.
