Birds, and all other creatures of creations are what I call Divine Innocents. These beings are not responsible for the destruction of the planet or the wars that destroy all forms of life from mountains to man. These wonderful beings that Creator has set upon this firmament delight us with song, their antics, their loyalty, their wisdom and their love. We the ones with thumbs, having the ability to write and create cultural legacies, have been given stewardship of the Divine Innocents, but we have fallen sorely short of our duty to care for and protect all life. So we must ask the angels to look after those Divine Ones that we cannot reach. This painting asks the angels to please help us in this work.. and I pray each day that those in government positions of power will remember their call to care for all life. Turn away from destruction, power and greed, and that they open their hearts to the job of stewards of all life.

This day Michele, as we enter the final half of your tribute, my gaze rests on your ANGELS &,SPIRITUAL COLLECTION. What gifts are hidden here in plain sight for ALL to view and within which to take refuge. One of my favorite birds, the loyal, monogamous cardinal, rests in the angel’s hand. Even within her protection, he is looking about, ever filled with the anxiety of survival; I understand the finches, purchase their grapes, provide their heated birdbath and return their calls....they nest in the winterberry and varietal Laurel bushes planted for them. My husband changes the water twice daily and they literally fly alongside our vehicle with us in greetings of departure and return...how we love our birds.
