Description
Given its proximity to central Amsterdam, Melkmeisjesbrug, Milkmaid’s Bridge, is probably the most photographed foot bridge in the city. IPicturesque views down both Brouwersgracht and Herengracht, Bridge 16 was built around 1880
This location originally housed a milk market at the Herenmarkt near where the bridge now stands. A nearby tavern installed a milkmaid sign trying to capitalize on the name formed the basis for it's current name.
This is the second bridge at this location.
