Description
Thaxted is one of the prettiest villages in Essex. Immediately beside the medieval parish church stands this pair of almshouses, and in the background you can make out a restored early 19th century windmill. The small cottage on the left dates to perhaps the 14th century, while the one on the right, with its gingerbread trim, is much later, probably early 18th century.
