Description
As my son and I journeyed around the area where I now live, we came across this abandoned farmhouse, nestling deep in the beautiful countryside of the Axarquia park in Andalucia, southern Spain and it set me thinking. I wondered why the family who had lived and worked here had left and in what circumstances. I saw beauty, both in the crumbling building and its setting, with the layers of mountains leading away into the distance and an abundance of wildflowers in the foreground. But I also felt an atmosphere of sadness, as again I wondered why the farm had been abandoned and what had become of those who once lived here.
