Abandoned in the Plains by Debra Martz Making my first visit to the Salt Plains Wildlife Refuge in norhtern Oklahoma I didn't expect my first stop for photography would be an abandoned house and windmill with nature taking it back. But shortly after turning off hwy 38 onto the gravel road leading into the refuge, this scene captured my attention so had to stop. I marveled at what a beautiful home this had been in its day and wondered why it was left to deteriate.
