Staying at our vacation house in Canyon Lake, I woke up at 4:30 AM in order to brave the deer darting in front of me in the dark of night to arrive at Lost Maples State Natural Area early enough to capture gorgeous sunrise colors in the sky. What I didn't count on was the rainy weather that was lingering over the area, and that the leaves had mostly dropped from the maples. Always the optimistic, I tried to make the best of the situation and started my hike towards the Pond which is fed by Can Creek. I couldn't find anything to photograph, and on top of that it started raining! I made this image well past the pond and all the tents at the primitive camping site. Planting my tripod on the wet ground, I visualized this collage of six photographs and fired away. Thanks for looking, FAA watermark WILL NOT show on fine art print.
