Title
A Helpful Hand
Artist
Angela L Walker
Medium
Painting - Acrylic, Watercolor, & Ink On Mixed Media Paper
Description
I started a sketchbook this year... not so much with the intention of sharing any of here, but as a way of chronicling my growth as an artist. To my surprise, it quickly became an *art journal*... a place for creative exploration and disclosure.
What I learned from this piece is:
Though I tend to celebrate my strengths and blessings, I do recognize my faults and missteps. I realize I can be passionate to a fault... and sometimes, even though I mean to offer *a helpful hand*, I end up turning people off or hurting them in ways I never imagined.
This is a page from my art journal (former sketchbook made of multi-media paper); it's an inspirational page full of doodles and a sketch of my own hand (I traced my own hand and reduced it down to fit in this journal; transferred it using graphite and added the detail)... this page was made using ink, acrylic, and watercolor.

Wow girl ....I really love this...so bright and full of hope... just looking at it offers HELP, help to ones soul....that is how I see your art.....your hand created this art which helps you have a means to express and in doing that you help those who are inspired by your gift. I don't ever see you losing parts of your core ....all these lessons have made you stronger. It always seems to kick in when you least expect. Love your work and you too!

My dear Rosy, thank you for sharing in the "meaning" behind this piece. Life is surely a journey and there are many lessons to learn. I agree with your thinking on this too. I'm finding, though, since I lost my son, I have a very difficult time handling harsh criticism (of a personal nature) and attacks based on "little things" that shouldn't matter in the larger scheme of things. LIFE is way to short to live it defensively (in my humble opinion)... I genuinely mean NO "ill will" to anyone and it hurts very much when I encounter situations where there seems to be an abundance of drama and an absence of love and forgiveness. Yep, you're right, my friend... some lessons are learned over the course of an entire lifetime. I pray for strength to continue this journey without losing parts of my core. Hugs! :)

Beautiful painting Angela and a very powerful statement. Learning when help is both wanted and needed, and how best to give it, is a life long lesson I think, and one that not everyone recognises. Rich self-insight and definitely a VF
